In March 2013, the Foundation purchased their very own holiday home, ‘Zak’s Haven’, for heart families to have a short break away from it all and have some quality family time together. The caravan is a 2013 Swift Soleil, situated in Auchenlarie Holiday Park in Gatehouse of Fleet, Castle Douglas. It has three bedrooms, large open plan living and dining area, a shower room and toilet. The caravan has a decked walkway with ramp and has a decked seating area with patio table and chairs which overlooks gorgeous views of the sea. In order to have the best views, the caravan was sited in the higher section of the park, however, its close proximity to the main road (A75) means that you may experience some traffic noise, but it is far enough away to let your kids out to play safely.
There are also a few tourist attractions in and around the surrounding area. (Cocoa Factory, Outdoor Adventure park (open all year round), Cream O’ Galloway and so much more. Castle Douglas, Kirkcudbright and Newton Stewart are a short drive away.
There is a children’s play area adjacent to the van, as is the shop and laundrette. The main entertainment area and sports bar is a ten minute walk away and the beach a five minute walk. However, please note that there is a downhill walk to both.
The main entertainment area has a heated swimming pool and sauna, a gym, solarium, soft play area, games area, café bistro with the starlight suite offering daily and nightly entertainment (in high season). Adjacent to the main entertainment area is the Sports bar and a Crazy Golf course.
